Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Decibel Dossier for iOS ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information. We have written it to be accurate. The App is designed so that it does not collect personal data, and this policy describes that design rather than disclaiming practices that do not apply to us.

1. Summary

The App measures environmental sound levels using your device's microphone and shows the result in decibels. All processing happens on your device. We do not operate an account system or a server, we do not upload your data, and we do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking software. The only permission the App requests is access to the microphone. Under Apple's App Privacy framework, the App falls under "Data Not Collected."

2. What We Do With the Microphone

When you take a measurement, the App reads audio from the microphone and converts it in real time into a sound pressure level. The App keeps the resulting decibel values, time series, and summary statistics for the measurement you choose to save. It does not record or store the underlying audio, and the audio samples are discarded after they are converted. Nothing from the microphone leaves your device.

The App does not perform voice or speaker recognition, and it does not transmit audio anywhere.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be specific about what the App does not do.

3.1 No account. The App has no sign-up, sign-in, or user profile.

3.2 No location. The App does not request location permission and does not access your location. Any "location" or "site" field shown on a report is text you type yourself and is optional.

3.3 No photos, files, or contacts. The App does not request access to your photo library, files, or contacts. When you export or share a report, that happens through the standard iOS share sheet, and you choose where the file goes.

3.4 No tracking. The App does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not track you across apps or websites.

3.5 No third-party SDKs that collect data. This version of the App does not embed advertising, analytics, attribution, or push-notification software.

4. Purchases

The App offers optional In-App Purchases that unlock watermark-free report export. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. When you buy, Apple handles the transaction and any associated payment and order information under Apple's own terms. That information is collected and processed by Apple, not by us. We do not receive or store your payment card, Apple ID credentials, or billing details. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

5. Where Your Data Is Stored

Measurements and reports you save are stored locally on your device. Because there is no server, we hold no copy of your data. You can delete individual records within the App, and removing the App deletes all of its local data.

6. Children

The App is rated 4+ and is intended for a general audience. It does not collect personal data from anyone, including children, and it has no account, social, or messaging features. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, contact us at the address below; because the App does not collect such information, there is in the ordinary course nothing for us to hold or delete.

7. GDPR and CCPA

We do not collect, sell, or share personal information. Because we hold no personal data about you, most of the access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out mechanics under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) have nothing to act on. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used under the CCPA. If you have a question or wish to make a request, contact us at the email below and we will respond. For purchases, the relevant data controller is Apple, and requests about purchase or payment data should be directed to Apple.

8. Security

The App relies on the iOS application sandbox and the operating system's data-protection features to keep its local data on your device. Because no data is transmitted or stored on our infrastructure, the App does not expose your measurements to network interception by us.

9. Changes to This Policy

If a future version of the App adds a feature that collects or transmits information, we will update this policy to describe that feature, the information involved, and any third party that receives it, and we will update the effective date. Material changes will be brought to your attention within the App.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this policy, email us at dbdossierapp@163.com. We will respond within a reasonable period.
